TREATY REVIEW
Created handbook on U.S. treaties
Treaties are a useful gauge of U.S. diplomatic engagement. Many are well understood on an individual basis. However, there are roughly 8,000 U.S. treaties and international agreements in force. To understand American diplomacy, we need to look at the whole.

DATA COLLECTION
Collected information on bilateral and multilateral treaties
This handbook is based on Treaties in Force, a report released each year by the Department of State. This report lists all active U.S. treaties and international agreements.

DIGITIZATION
Created digital version of Treaties in Force
While the Department of State provides comprehensive information, there is no digital version of Treaties in Force. This makes it extremely difficult to track diplomatic trends. I digitized this resource to make this process much easier.

TREND ANALYSIS
Tracked trends in diplomatic engagement
This handbook is designed to provide a better understanding of American diplomacy. With a digital version of Treaties in Force, I was able to answer questions such as 1) how have U.S. relationships evolved? and 2) what areas of diplomacy are on the rise?

VISUALIZATION
Designed series of graphics
There are two main sections for graphics. The first covers U.S. bilateral treaties with fifteen major powers. Along with the U.S., these countries represent over three quarters of the world’s economy and well over half the world’s population. The second covers all U.S. multilateral treaties.
I later completed the bilateral database for a project on the Indo-Pacific.
